"Not on the work clock" - "Concerned Citizen"??!!??
Joyce states in the current issue of The Marshall Chronicle that she attended the Citizens Bond Campaign meeting "not on the work clock" and she was "attending as a concerned citizen". She should have been there as "Superintendent" of the District. If you want to get behind this bond Joyce - then get behind it. Don't come to the meeting as a "concerned citizen". Are you afraid that if this renewal of this bond fails - then you will be the one to blame? Also The Chronicle reported that approximately 20 people showed up for the meeting. What wasn't reported is that a majority of the 20 people were from Kingscott and School officials. It would be interesting to know how many community members were there - maybe 5? Doesn't sound like there is much community interest in this renewal. Of course at their next meeting there will be more people in attendance and they will try to spin that into how the community is so excited about the bond now. But that will happen when each attendee of the original meeting is told to bring 10 others with them for the next meeting!

The school board will decide on March 27th if they want "what is best for the kids" or "what is best for Joyce." The bond is likely dead if they decide to keep Joyce. We need change at the top first, then we can all happily unite and get excited for the school bonds. If Joyce gets a good performance review and keeps her job, the anger and outrage in the community will only grow stronger and the bond will be seen as a vote of confidence, or no confidence, in JP.
This is my opinion also. In years past this community supports bonds when they trust what is really being said is really going to happen. I can not say that I feel any type of trust - not while the current superintendent is here. Kind of like putting the fox in charge of the hen house - if you know what I mean. Why would trust a situation like that?
It is very hard to place any kind of trust in the amy or joyce especially with all the monetary mistakes and cover-ups that have taken place. Trust is earned through honesty - Trustworthyness is one of the main ingredients missing in the management of MPS.
The problems involving the top leaders, especially Mrs. Phillips are at the crisis level! The school board must finally intervene, hold her accountable, and do what is needed so we can get a good Superintendent as soon as possible. Then we can start healing, working together and getting things back to normal. Oh yeah, the bonds are then much more likely to be enthusiastically supported. At this time, especially after what has been done to Ron Behrenwald and other staff members I respect, I cannot support any bond with JP in office.
I have been a strong school supporter all my life and have never voted against any proposal. Until now. I dont know anyone who is planning to vote yes on the bond and the only reason is the top leadership who are new to the community and seem to have strongly alienated most all of the employees of the district most of whom I know and respect for the excellent job they have been doing long before the top leaders came into view. Let me see. Do I believe two "doctors" with no vested long term interest in Marshall or the many good people I personally know who are a big part of Marshall and have given much to make the Marshall Public
Schools excellent. A no brainer and as long as this current board who should know better keep supporting these doctors against overwhelming criticism by the people they should be listening to I will not support any bond. In fact the vast majority of those I talk to have the same feelings. This board is in for a big surprise if they think people are happy with what is going on.
Remeber that one of the doctors went to school full-time last year while we paid him $90,000+ and his $10,000 tuition, even on school time, with the approval of the other doctor. He did very little for our schools or in his job last year. He was a part-time employee at best! Obviously these two "doctors" do not care at all for anyone but themselves! What they have done is dishonest and unethical at minimum and possibly even criminal. They both do an awful job for the school district and have very bad relations with the staff and parents. They both need to be replaced as soon as possible so we can get some good people into those two crucial positions.
Are you saying you want a Superintendent who is ethical, honest, cooperative, has good people skills, eperienced as a building administrator, wise, respected, trusted and enjoys strong staff and community support? Keep dreaming!
I think next time around the Marshall Schools will be much more careful about who they hire. Last time we were burned bad. A board member told me it was a mistake to hire in the middle of the school year. The pool of candidates were quite bad, as is proven by Mrs. Phillips.
In the latest rediculous question "from a parent" in the Supt. Corner Dr. Phil states that she is going to talk about fitness as discussed with Sue Boley but it goes on to hail Oaklawn Hospital.(Oaklawn is great, by the way) Is she trying to butter up John Coulter right before her eval? I think so.
JP is grabbing at any pathetic attempt she can think of in a desperate search for support. But the people of Marshall are not that stupid, and we have been burned many times when we tried to support her, work with her, or give her the "benefit of the doubt." Her bad leadership has hurt the Marshall schools a lot, and by default the hospital and the rest of the community too. It is time for her to be replaced for the good of the Marshall schools and the rest of the Marshall Community.
It is imperative that employees, neighbors, friends, children, etc. show up at the eval on Tuesday, 3/27. Don't need to stay long, be present before they go into closed session to eval her. Let joyce see how many people are standing againsts all the harm she has done to our school system. 6:00 pm Tuesday community room
A few Marshall teachers have been brave but the vast majority have been quite cowardly this past year! They were not supportive when others were unfairly targeted! Some snickered and made fun behind their backs. Some cozied up to board members and even old JP herself looking for favors. If JP is not fired this week the MTA have only themselves to blame. They can show up to board meetings smiling and thanking the school board for all of their hard work. My prediction, the MTA staff will be too scared, lazy or foolish to show up on Tuesday and do anything positive about it. A few brave souls may venture out, but 97 percent will not. I hope I am wrong! If this posting angers you then get the MTA members, parents and others out on Tuesday March 27th at 6 pm! Call board members, turn your righteous anger in positive directions! The future of the Marshall Public Schools are at stake here! This is a call to action!
Aren't there conferences in some buildings on Tuesday night? That would preclude those teachers from attending the board meeting.
Now would Joyce and the school board schedule the evaluation on a night when most or all teachers could not attend? if so then each teacher should find one friend, neighbor, parent or spouse to attend. The Marshall teachers have been mostly silent while JP has abused, threatended and walked all over the teaching and support staff. Some board members have even gloated about how Joyce has "whipped them (MPS staff) into obedience" and are going after "people who do not want to do their jobs." Why does the MTA tolerate these disrespectful and hate-filled actions?
If JP gets a good performance review and Board support on Tuesday 3-27 then the MTA and entire MPS staff will have lost all trust in faith in the school board too. We have already lost all trust and faith in JP a long time ago.
With NO CONFIDENCE in the superintendent it would be very catastropic to also have 'no confidence' in the board. I am praying this board will take some positive action at the Tues 3/27 6 pm meeting. These two entities are supposed to guide the district. The corrupt actions of one person should certainly be something Marshall can control. Replacing the current superintendent would show area schools Marshall still cares about their schools and are willing to take hard action to make them one of the best in the area again. We need bonds - but we don't NEED JOYCE. I am against demotion as I am sure there is nothing jp is qualified to do in our district. She has no comprehension of the duties of the administrators, teachers, drivers and support staff so her qualifications would eliminate her as being a good choice for any of these district positions.
Any good school board would have fired Joyce Phillips by now. There have been rumors of an evil hidden agenda that includes a "hit list," is staunchly anti-union, and is being promoted by a small wacky clique who are on a power trip of vengeance and revenge for personal reasons. They are reported to think that JP is the "only one" who can "fix" the "broken" Marshall schools. JP is also "the one" that carries out their personal attacks and other hidden agendas. This may sound ludicrous but their is evidence this may be happening. Relatives of some board members have bragged openly about their plans that line up with the actions JP has taken against the schools. My PCO friends have contacts with board members that have confirmed some of this may be happening. We will find out on Tuesday 3-27 if these rumors may be true. Since there is no valid reasons to support keeping Joyce, then Joyce should be fired or replaced somehow (there are many ways this can be done). If she is given a good enough review to keep her, or worse yet give her a raise too, then we know something very corrupt is happening related to the Marshall School Board and JP.
I agree, something very strange is indeed going on at the top in the Marshall schools.
